A day's leave put to good use. It's wedding season my friends, and I've been booked left, right and center for all things wedding related. Two out of my closest extended family members will be holding theirs a week after the other and boy oh boy things are in full swing already, with me and cousin Ashlyn caught in the middle of it, mostly with Layan Nenek Duties hurhur.
(Sidenote: Cousin aku feeling tau - nama dia actually Azlin, tapi dia kata, "Ina kalo kau nak blog pasal aku, kau kena refer aku as 'Ashlyn'," HAHAHAHAHA)
Last weekend it was last minit kain shopping and tempahan for Nenek's kebaya, followed by trip to JB with Nenek to collect the kad jemputan from the printers. Ok, Nenek doesn't have anything to do with the kad jemputan printing, but my uncle thought it'd be a good time for grandma-grandaughter(s) bond.
Hey, bukan aku atau Ashlyn *coughs* yang nak kahwin k! Tapi ok ok uh, I like hanging out with my nenek and Ashlyn *coughs again* (allergic ar ngan nama ni HAHAHA). Plus nenek ada many stories to tell, like for example how dulu dulu masa dia muda, dia suka pakai kasut tinggi tinggi and arwah Atok likes to buy them for her. Then there's the part where arwah Atok rode a big German military bike, and they'd go out with friends to the beach.
So skarang korang faham apasal aku suka sangat ngan Abang Motor Besar? Ni semua darah keturunan beb. Nenek gua the original Minah. *chuckles*
All in all, my weekend started early, because I was clearing leave from Thursday through today, but hell yeah it was kecoh. It's like time whizzed passed and suddenly, eh dah Monday - besok kerja arghhhhhhh!
Kecoh: One of the highly overused words by us Minahs. It is used to describe or exclaim about anything that is a riot. It can be used as a verb, noun or adjective, yes versatile sungguh la perkataan ini. Here, let me illustrate:-
1) Kecoh (verb)
"Takyah nak kecoh-kecoh belikan apa birthday present ke la, kau gi blanja dia makan sua, settled." - Mat A's advice to Mat B, whose gf's birthday is round the corner.
Translated: "Don't have to go into a riot about what to get her la, just take her out for a birthday dinner, easy."
2) Kecoh (noun)
"Alamak gang, lawa la dress kau, tapi kaler kecoh sak." - Minah X upon seeing Minah Y turn up for black tie event in a cocktail dress that was splashes of red, green and yellow.
Translated: "Nice dress, but what a riot of colours!"
(Don't ask me why Minah X and Minah Y are attending a black tie event.)
3) Kecoh (adjective)
"Alamak si kecoh tu nak turun? Baik aku bawak PSP skali, mana tahu aku start malas nak layan dia ke." - Minah B's reaction after Minah A told her that Minah C, who is quite a riot piece of work, will be coming down to join their lepak session.
Translated: "What, she-who-is-a-riot is coming to join us? I'll being my PSP just in case I get too lazy to entertain her antics."
So on the next Saturday your friend asks you out to town but you don't want to go because hellooooo, town on Saturday is jam-packed with people (high risk of H1N1 tuh) you say, "Kecoh ar Town, turun Teh Tarik St 44 jer ar."
Anyway, kecoh jugak nak cari baju to wear to town kan.

btw, my nenek is 86yrs old. alot alot alot alot of stories. :)
heh.
Great posts! I stumbled upon your LJ and once I started reading I was hooked. I've read through your entire LJ, by the way. Haha.
After reading all your entries, I realise that I'm more of a Minah than I thought. However, still mostly a college-girl though, with a semi-Mat boyfriend, who has tons of Mat-fied friends. At least now I'll be able to understand what they're saying!
Keep up the great work. Definitely a great source of entertainment.
I've added you as a friend too. Hope you don't mind. And I apologise for the long comment. =)
Loves.
